Last night’s Republican debate on Bloomberg Television brought the GOPs brightest and best to the table to talk plans once again. Mitt Romney was the winner of the debate, Herman Cain enjoys an amiable position despite his inability to firmly define his “9-9-9″ plan to turn the country’s ailing economy around, Michelle Bachman made some excellent statements from a legal point of view, and Newt Gingrich continued his gentlemanly encouragement while making some sound points of his own. Rick Perry, however, seems to be losing popularity despite being spared any questions at all about immigration, a sore subject for him so far this year. We know where they stand on the issues. We have heard them offer their more or less detailed plans for changing the direction our country is heading into. One particularly interesting matter on the minds of Americans is education reform. The No Child Left Behind legislation enacted during the Bush administration is nearing the end of its 12 year cycle and is largely deemed to have been a failed campaign. The GOP debaters have said little about education so far, but how educated are these Republican contenders for their party’s nomination as presidential candidate for the 2012 election? Check out this infographic to see how much schooling your favorite candidate has:

The differences between Liberals and Conservatives have been long discussed, researched, and ranted about since the beginning of both parties. So often though many people are not completely familiar with all of the issues and ideas of the party that they happen to be affiliated with. These people simply “go with it.” Usually a political party affiliation is based on what the person grew up hearing about, and he or she does not question any differently. I can bet that if most people understood fully what the party they support actually believe and represent, most might make a decision to choose a different party. There have been studies done by students acquiring a human services degree that help to support my beliefs to some extent.

So do you know what your party represents? Are you an informed individual choosing your stance based on the actual ideals and beliefs that you want to see put into effect in this country? Or are you the type of person who chooses based solely on the information that you hear trickling down from others, too lazy to take the time and find out what the reality really is? I think it is time you did your research. Forget the labels, and choose based on what you think. Take a look at the infographic below. There might be labels at the top of it, but I say ignore those and look at the beliefs only to see which is closer to how you feel.

In 1992, MTV took a stance on voting. They started a pro-democracy campaign which they called Choose or Lose. Their goal? To fight political empathy in the 25 and under crowd. Their goal was to have 20-million young people registered to vote. Their campaign was at an all time high when they had then-candidate Bill Clinton speak at an open forum, which they broadcasted live.

Since 1992, MTV has run successful Choose or Lose campaigns in order to continue getting young people involved in voting. MTV attempts not to take a republican or democrat side, but rather works to promote social issues that the candidates support that may effect the lives of their viewers. MTV does a great job of setting up information tables on campuses in order to get the word out to young people about registering to vote.

MTV also enlists the help of celebrities to encourage young voters to register and get involved with politics. Check out this cool YouTube video which takes a look back at the 1992 Choose or Lose campaign.

With the 2012 election right around the corner, you can expect MTV to be front and center once again with their Choose or Lose campaign. Be sure to check your dish network texas channel guide, or whatever your local channel guide is. MTV is doing our young people a great service by providing them information in a way they understand and relate to.

No one can deny that Sarah Palin, the former Alaskan governor who ran alongside John McCain for the vice presidency in the 2008 election, has a lot of pull in politics. Despite her overexposure in the media, she remains a volatile property for the upcoming 2012 election — but she has yet to announce whether she will run. Palin has remained unflaggingly popular among the Tea Party voters, as well as in mainline Republican circles. She presents a powerful and passionate view on the state of the union, and proposes real ways to tackle issues head on in Washington.

In a poll released today, Palin was only 5 points less than President Barack Obama. This puts her within close striking distance — closer than any of the current top Republicans we’ve seen in the recent debates. Here are some things you might be interested in knowing about Sarah Palin, just for the record:

What does liberal mean, according to the dictionary? Let’s find out:

A person of liberal views

A supporter or member of a Liberal Party

adjective /ˈlib(ə)rəl/

Open to new behavior or opinions and willing to discard traditional values

Favorable to or respectful of individual rights and freedoms

(in a political context) Favoring maximum individual liberty in political and social reform

Of or characteristic of Liberals or a Liberal Party

(in the UK) Of or relating to the Liberal Democrat Party

Regarding many traditional beliefs as dispensable, invalidated by modern thought, or liable to change

(of education) Concerned mainly with broadening a person’s general knowledge and experience, rather than with technical or professional training

(esp. of an interpretation of a law) Broadly construed or understood; not strictly literal or exact

Given, used, or occurring in generous amounts

(of a person) Giving generously

According to these definitions, it appears that liberal has primarily a political connotation, almost universally — but in fact, the word liberal, prior to its hijacking for political purposes, once had meaning all its own, and the words do not correspond with the behavior of most political liberals.

a : marked by generosity, tolerance, and kindness

The old definition is flattering. Unfortunately, today’s political liberals in the United States are anything but generous, tolerant, or kind. Their generosity consists of disabling millions of unemployed Americans by channeling them into a cycle of poverty that leads to generational welfare, and then keeping them “in their place,” as a means of avoiding the real issues at hand: that America has no jobs to offer them, and no reason to educate them.

Liberals are only tolerant of people who don’t disagree with them; everyone else is called a bigot or is not considered to be very open minded at all. For instance, look at the case of gay marriage legislation: are liberals tolerant of people who don’t believe in that? Hm. While you are thinking about this, consider nice home security alarm companies.

Its’ that season again, when the political heavyweights on both sides of the proverbial isle are competing for chances to become their party’s nominee for the 2012 United States Presidential election. Many people believe this upcoming election will lean heavily towards the Republican side after six years of the national financial ruin brought on by Democratic dominance in the House, while some people still insist Barrack Obama is more than just a one hit wonder. Speculation can go either way, and no one can say with any certainty how it will all pan out — but there could be many ways of making a more accurate prediction as to who will come out ahead in 2012.

Below is one of the most interesting political infographics I’ve ever seen. It shows who history’s presidential winners are — by height and weight. The winners of each of our nation’s presidential elections are marked with a star. But before you have a look, you might want to think for yourself: who do you think the big winners might have been? Tall, or short? Heavyset, or slim? The results might surprise you. They also could help you figure out ahead of time who the next president is going to be.

Be sure you get your top home security system today. Homeland security begins at home.

Former Arkansas Governor turned radio and tv commentator Mike Huckabee recently announced that he wouldn’t rule out being Vice President. He said that he is impressed with any number of Republican nominees currently eyeing a bid for the White House in 2012. Huckabee disappointed many of his fans when he announced many weeks ago that he did not intend to run for President in 2012. Best known in recent months for his regular appearances on Fox News, where he has his own show, and for playing bass guitar along with a variety of talented guest musicians who have made appearances as guests, Huckabee is considered to represent the conservative American voter with some degree of accuracy not to be found in many of the other potential candidates. But Huckabee says he’s found the current list of Republican candidates running for President in 2012 to be impressive. During that disappointing announcement several weeks ago, he said he was quite happy being a radio and tv commentator, and couldn’t imagine a more fulfilling role, but that he wouldn’t turn down a chance at being Vice President if one of the current candidates called and asked him to consider it.

Huckabee has a lot more going for him this election season than last, when he was fairly famous for his uncanny resemblance to the man in the “Sea Salt!” soup commercials from Campbell’s. People are looking back over the last presidential season and many are waxing nostalgic for that Huckabee magic. It seems to be another case of “Do you miss me yet?” sans the vitriol and bitterness with which that was originally dispatched by the Bush faithful who felt they had been robbed when current president Obama won the 2008 election.

Huckabee is a powerful contender, and could even make a go of running for president if he wanted to. He still has many supporters in the right wing of American politics, and has gained so much more public recognition after being on television regularly since the last election season. It’s only natural that so many voters would hope to see his name back on the ballots next fall.

As people grow increasingly disillusioned with partisan politics in the United States of America, more voters are looking outside the traditional Democratic and Republican parties for real solutions to the tough issues of our time. Today, we will explore the Libertarian platform and have a look at what makes the third largest political party in the U.S. tick.

Libertarians advocate a world of human liberty, wherein no individual is forced to abandon his principles or moral positions for the sake of special interests or other individuals, for that matter. Libertarians will go to great lengths to insure the freedoms of individuals when it comes to liberties and personal freedoms, and desire a reduction in the size of government and and increase in the power of people to determine their own lifestyles and destinies.

A deep and essential respect for civil liberties is considered a precondition for a world of freedom and prosperity. Peace and prosperity in the world at large are thought to be indivisible from essential liberties in the homeland, and all individuals have an inborn right to exercise complete dominion over their own lives. Additionally, they possess the right to live in whatever manner they deem suitable as long as there is no imposition of forcible conflict with the equal rights of others to live in like manner.

A person’s right to engage in peaceful lifestyle choices is a chief principle of Libertarianism, which welcomes the great diversity that freedom brings. The world Libertarians envision is one in which individuals are free to pursue their hopes, dreams, and happiness without inference from government bodies that seek to control and manipulate the actions of citizens through legislated regulatory measures.

As for economic issues, Libertarians are forerunners in support of the Fair Tax movement. They believe and hold that a free and competitive market is the most efficient way to promote the proper distribution of resources, and that everyone has the right to trade and obtain goods and services on this free market. The protection of property rights and some legal framework to ensure the protection of voluntary trade are core beliefs of Libertarians.

The American public at large seems to have some alarming misconceptions regarding the nation’s presidential election process. People tend to believe, since we do, after all, live in a democratic society, that directly elect the president of their choice. Unfortunately, that’s not how it works. In reality, people cast their votes for certain electors who then go on to select the presidential candidates who actually win the elections. If we live in an open democracy, you may wonder, then why do we need to elect electors to handle our elections for us? Simply put: we do not live in an open democracy, but a limited one.

The Founding Fathers (aside for liberal hotdogs: yes, they were men, and no, father is not a bad word) realized that there was a serious chance our young nation could be sucked back into the grip of some foreign-supported dictatorship or worse, a form or nobility or royalty similar to what they’d left behind in Jolly Old England. The first colonists who settled a wide swath of those original thirteen colonies were considered to be naive, and subject to manipulation by foreign or local influences. The result could have been a grass roots movement with the power to reach distant areas before leaders in the then capital, Philadelphia, ever could have gotten word. If that had happened, then the idea that somehow a central figurehead had manipulated the outcome of an election would have meant certain rebellion among the newly liberated people of the American colonies.

King George III, leader of the powerful British monarchy at the time, had just ramped up his battle to keep the colonies under his thumb, and the Founding Fathers were understandably reluctant to call down additional attention to themselves as leaders of the movement that would ultimately win independence for America. The fact that more than 37,000 British troops still had boots on the ground here also played a role, as it was well known that many sympathizers with England still lived among the patriots. These Loyalists could at any time turn the tides and take advantage of any weaknesses in the early experimental election processes.

Now, whether electors are still necessary, or even a good idea, is a matter for another article on another day. American freedom includes the right to relax, so visit legalherbsdirect.com for soothing incense today.
